Our Focus for 2020
The theme we'll be focusing on this year is 20/20 Vision: Seeing Life Through God's Perspective. There's a well known quote that says" "When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at will change." One's vision determines how they see life. Clouded, blurry vision distorts reality. Distracted vision keeps one from achieving the goal.
Imagine what it would be like to see life from God's perspective. How does God see you? How does God see others? The world? How does God see sin and temptation? How does God see hardship and trials? What difference would it bring to live every day, seeing things the way God sees?
For the past few years our annual theme has focused inward on our personal growth in our relationship with God. Thus year we're looking outward - focusing our thoughts on God, on others, on truth, and on Heaven. We'll be studying the importance of proper vision, and how we can learn to shift our focus, to change our perspective, to see life from Heaven's point of view.
We will devote each 4th Sunday to a more inward consideration. We're calling it our "Quarterly Checkup." We'll study our vision, what makes proper vision, what are challenges to our vision, and how to overcome them.
The Shepherds would to encourage each of us to devote this year to changing the way we see, the way we think - to open our eyes and see life the way God sees. It is their hope that this yearly theme will produce greater faith and hope in all of us, as we "set our minds on things above, not on things here on earth" (Colossians 3:2)
