Time To Stop Satan
It is an understatement to say that Satan is a formidable adversary. Today he is at work, maybe not as before, but extremely close. His subtlety. His deception. His disguising. The doubt and discouragement he creates is defeating.
If all we see in Satan, as an adversary, are the grosser and more prominent sins like adultery, murder, theft, and drunkenness, then we miss him. Yes, he certainly uses those. But more times than not, he does not. None of those things are what he used to seduce Adam and Eve. When Demas walked, loving this present world, none of those are mentioned. For those who truly strive to be spiritually minded, he knows those are dead on arrival.
For those who strive to be spiritually minded, he uses discouragement, doubt, and strife. What if we found a passage in God’s word that said Satan is going to use disease, like COVID-19, to distract people? Would we allow it to change our lives like it has? Would we allow it to dictate to us spiritually what we are going to do or who we would be? I do not have that passage. I wish I did. We say that if any outside force were to prevent us from worshipping God, we would stand up against that oppression like New testament Christians did. If Nero were present today, as in the days of Peter, and threatened us like he did Christians then, we would not relent. Well, COVID-19 is from the outside and it is attacking us. It tells us, “If you get out and become exposed, I will kill you.” Yes, absolutely, take proper safety precautions, but why let it control us? I am not talking about throwing caution to the wind any more than Christians did with Nero. But if we are spiritually minded, then why let it control our mind? It is time to stop letting Satan control us.
Also, today we have civil unrest. Satan is using this to distract people so much. I am opposed to any kind of prejudice! But looting, killing, and tearing apart the fabric of a nation is not about prejudice. In fact, it is prejudice in itself. It is what it opposes. Satan uses the terror and fear to cause good people to give up and give in. America is not perfect, but she is the “Last Best Hope.” All this disruption civilly would not be tolerated in a totalitarian society. The very liberties and freedom that allow the protesting to take place are trashed. Satan has disguised it in the name of something that is abominable. He has high jacked a legitimate complaint. In the process, he has stopped lives, ruined cities and disrupted our freedoms.
Sadly, Satan is having his way today. All of this has affected churches. Churches have split. Brethren have become adversaries rather than cohorts. Sides have been taken, lines drawn on when saints assemble, resume bible classes, and commence with the work of the Lord. Fear paralyzes. Faith leads to hope and hope helps us through the challenges.
We know who the adversary is. I beg you to consider, it is time Satan stops winning!
