Think Before We Act

“To give prudence to the simple, to the young man knowledge and discretion. (Prov. 1:4)

The foolish rush into a situation before considering the consequences of their actions, but people of discretion take careful thought about the outcome of the choices they make. Good judgment is important. It is important for us to stop and think about what we are doing before we act. Life is full of opportunities for judgments of various sorts—some are little, seemingly insignificant; some are very important and may have long-lasting results. Every decision is important.

The word of God makes it possible for us to make good decisions, not foolish ones. But in order to do so, we must develop a familiarity with it. We must make the word of God part of who we are and what we decide. In doing so, we will not render foolish judgments. As we go about our daily activities, we should look for ways to implement God’s word—it will help us judge which way to go.
