Facing Life Storms the Bible Way
Something common to everyone is the inevitability of life’s storms. They are the tragic moments that come upon us in a moment, often unannounced and unexpected. From actual storms (hurricanes, tornados, floods, etc.), to sickness (disease, injury, cancer, etc.), to inward struggles (doubt, depression, anxiety, etc.), to loss (property, health, lives of loved ones). God’s words provides real life examples of those who endured life’s storms, as well as comfort and assurance for those tough times.
God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. (Psa 46:1)
The LORD is my strength and my shield; My heart trusts in Him, and I am helped; Therefore my heart exults, And with my song I shall thank Him. (Psa 28:7)
The LORD is near to the brokenhearted, And saves those who are crushed in spirit. (Psa 34:18)
Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. (1Pe 5:7)
Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, shall guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. (Phil. 4:6-7)
Therefore we do not lose heart, but though our outer man is decaying, yet our inner man is being renewed day by day. 17 For momentary, light affliction is producing for us an eternal weight of glory far beyond all comparison, 18 while we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen; for the things which are seen are temporal, but the things which are not seen are eternal. (2Co 4:16-18)
