Reflections

The year is fast passing by. Another year come and gone. Such is the cycle of life under the sun. I would like to share a few thoughts that fill my mind.

First, Jody and I want to say, “Thank you” to each of you. The opportunity to be a part of your lives is such a joy.  Each year we cherish our time with you even more. For thirty years we have shared life with you. For many, we have known you since your birth. For many, we have known you since the early days of your childhood. And there are several whose who have grown in age with us together. Each one of you is precious to us.

Second, I cannot thank Darrell, Joe, and Glen enough for inviting us to come to this church. Darrell has passed away. Glen is no longer part of this church. Joe is still vibrant. To the present elders, Joe, Breck, James, Rick, and Terry, you and your wives mean the world to us. I cannot imagine this church without any one of you.

Third, Jordan, Holly, and the kids, thank you for being our partners in this work for the Lord. You are fellow laborers but, even more, deeply cherished friends. You are a joy to work with. I am so thankful you answered the phone when I called. Your future with this church and in the kingdom of God is limitless. We love you so very much!

Fourth, Noah and Michala, as you go to Cedar Park, take a little bit of this church with you. You have been a joy to work with this past year and a half. Your growth has been tremendous. Your work for our Lord will yield much fruit. I can’t wait to see you grow even more. We love you and are proud of you!

Fifth, our deacons are a great group of men. They and their families are a blessing to us. We appreciate what you do for us. Your service is tireless and without complaint. You simply ask, “What can I do for you?”  Thank you for sacrificing your lives and time for us. Our deepest appreciation and love is extended out to you.

Finally, I am not trying to rush time along, but I must tell you, I am glad to see 2021 pass to the dust bin of history. I am ready for 2022 to be a year that is filled with positive growth and positive news. I am ready for a year of productivity without any restrictions imposed on us. I realize there will be adverse things in the coming year. Such is life under the sun. But at least we can empty our minds of all the toxicity we have been exposed to the past two years. Here is what I am ready for: “Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things” (Phi.4:8).
